green and blue home decor interior
As I could predict, working on the project that involved very detailed watercolor illustrations of seeds, spices, flower buds, etc., I needed some rest and relaxing. And what is the best way to relax for an artist than to switch to a fast fearless brush strokes and create some abstract paintings.
The Green and Blue Organic Curves watercolor was born by dabbing a sponge into a wet watercolor and generously patching the watercolor paper while listening to a nice classic music. So, in this project (above) no brush was used at all.

The next design was created with the flat dry brush. I used water this time as little as possible. You can see the brush strokes that are covering each other without melting. That what a dry brush technique is all about:

And the last but not least experiment with watercolor was when I let the color paint itself by placing clear water streaks on the paper first and then randomly inserted all Rainbow Colors. The colors melted into each other creating unique lovely pattern of a Watercolor Rainbow Rain.

I love how great it looks in a simple interior decor:

and if to flip the very same painting upside down, and place above the fireplace the painting delivers totally different feeling. To me it even looked like a fire pushing the water up up up :

Purple abstraction

In these two artworks, which are part of my new Abstract Ocean Collection; I am sailing my artist’s imagination into exploring the ocean colors, and dramatic composition with moving waters.

The first canvas print contains the purple range of colors. The waters are rough. The waves are expressive and random.

Unlike the second abstract painting, which has the softer colors from sky blue to deep ultramarine. This artwork contains more structure. The waves are moving in a certain direction. Yet, the blue blue ocean is still quite chubby and animated:

While working on a new international illustration project, I thought I will share a few beautiful pix from one website that placed my art into interior decoration. This visual presentation warms up my heart as I can see how lovely my art looks in different settings with different colors backgrounds.
Sometimes it is not that much color needed to highlight the room with a few flowers and a few organic lines (just like in this Black And White Forest painting) :

In this set, I loved how the bright Fall Leaves compliment the light pinkish wall and the colorful vases on the side table:

In the next interior I was surprised to see Purple in this yellow accent room. But I guess, the yellow-purple iris flowers give a good splash of color and play in the contrast here:

Dark evening room can be well highlighted with the bright purple abstract painting here, in this interior decoration:

And gentle purple botanical flowers seem to be a good fit for a bedroom décor:

I also loved a clean look of this living room interior. The bright colors of this abstract fire painting definitely give a good company to the couch. As they say: people often select the art to compliment their couch and not vise versa 🙂

Sunflowers Field with perspective allows a good depth to this interior of dean or a living room:

Yet, these sunflowers in the Dutch Still Life style painting add some classic touch to a bedroom, dining room, or hallway:

After saying a nice Farewell to the Summer, I thought it will be appropriate to greet the new season and welcome Fall.

In this abstract design I “quilted” in a hundred squares from the dozens of my Autumn theme watercolor paintings.

I can imagine how these squares might bring the light into the interior filling a room with the cold air, yet flaming warm colors; and, celebrating this gorgeous festive season:

abstraction for interior of the home

After working on several commissions that involved not only the strict suggestions, artist’s discipline, and realistic paintings techniques; I really wanted to rest my imagination on the abstract art. Researching recently how to work with mixed media, I applied several of those techniques to my watercolor paintings when created a totally new (at least for me) abstract artworks.

Needless to say, it did involve imagination and artist’s skill; but this time I was moving the “brush strokes” applying only feelings and trying to abstract my mind from the realism.

And that is how a new Mixed Media additions to my Abstract Galley got created.
The warm yellow and brown fascinated my imagination. I saw some earthy, wavy, rocky texture; and, I called these series The Terrestrial Brush Strokes.

Another one was definitely reminding me a strong ocean filled with dynamic movements.

I called it The Sea Of Emotions:

brown yellow abstraction
When I introduced these earthy designs to one of my dear art collectors, I’ve heard a reasonable question: Why it is so brown? Can it be in some cooler colors, like for example purple, too?

I thought: There is nothing impossible for the Mixed Media and a wild imagination; and, the Purple Reflection series was created:
cool color organic art

And later, for Some Likes It Hot, I’ve managed to put my artwork on fire an ignited the art designs that can make anyone warm 🙂

square art
These and a few more Mixed Media designs found a great home in my Abstract Art Gallery; and soon they will travel the world in forms of prints, canvases, metal, and acrylic prints.

It’s Pouring Towels & Cherries

After selling my favorite Cherries in the Bowl painting I got so obsessed with cherries last week that I started painting them again and again like crazy. Using the same reference photo, I’ve decided to imagine different positions of cherries and different surfaces (such kitchen towels patterns etc). When I was less experienced artist I thought the cherries is hardest berry to paint. It turned out that after painting your 100th cherry; you are becoming a pretty proficient in catching the highlights, color depth, and reflection of the surface.

Try it! It is so much fun 🙂 Here is a little trick for the artists: for the highlights I’ve first used masking fluid, then dabbed with slightly wet Q-tip and when surface was dry I’ve grabbed the razor blade and scratched the area around the highlight to give a better berry-skin look to a cherry…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
These three cherry paintings are some of my Affordable Art collection that I’ve placed on Etsy.com. I love the recent article of one of the artists that pointed out the importance and a beauty of the afford-ability of art.
