Sorrento Lemon
A recent painting of mine grew up into a new commission painting and many interesting designs to follow.

An art collector liked one of my paintings of Sorrento Lemons; but it was a little twist requested. The format of the original painting was a standard size; and, my client wanted a new, elongated one, in order to fit the painting into the interior of her sun-room properly.

We started working together discussing a composition, format, color theme; and I proceeded with the painting of a new piece with the new approach and enthusiasm.

This time I placed a dark Alizarin Crimson (deep red color) on the bottom of the future black background. I have added one more lemon on a top to emphasize the elongated “flow” of the still life.
After the background was completed, I carefully painted lemons and leaves one by one; and, I left the flowers details for a dessert (below the new designs you could see a little movie that captures the whole process).

I really liked the outcome of the New Sorrento Lemons. The juicy bright fruits looked so lovely and so festive on the deep dark background.

I couldn’t hold my artist’s itch and created a few pillow designs right away.

And here they are.

Thinking that I can also place the lemons on other background colors rather than just dark, I made a few designs that warmed up my artist heart.

I truly believe that Lemon Theme would look super grate on a few kitchen towels:
kitchen gadgets
..and why not on something else; for example, placemats, serving trays, or decorative glass boards:

But, as my followers might already know, the creation process has not stopped at those items. I also posted different designs with coasters, paper cocktail napkins, and even porcelain plates (four dozens for every taste) into the Lemon Theme Gallery
The birth of Sorrento Lemons was captured on camera; and, I made a few minutes long movie “shrinking” a couple of weeks process into a Lemon Still Life step-by-step creation:

Emergency Berries

art that sells, bestseller, bestsellers, blueberries, blueberry, commission painting, illustration, jam, labels, Sztukowski, Watercolor
I’ve received a call from my customer for an extra Jam Label project. This time it was Blueberry Label. Thank Goodness I had photo reference for the berries. I just went outside and grabbed the blueberry bush leaves.. and to my absolute surprise: I’ve found that our blueberry bushes started blooming getting confused with warm weather.. Oh well, first, the apple tree surprised me, now blueberries. I guess it served me as an artist well though . And I hope the jam will be as sweet as my painted berries :0)
I was so pleased to see the photo from my customer, who is now utilizing the Jam Label Project and making a wonderful jam:
I hope my Blueberries Painting will build a Greater Pyramid.

San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge – Two Love Birds

anniversary, commission painting, family painting, Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco

San Francisco was always a very interesting subject for me to paint. And lately I’ve got an opportunity to express my admiration of the Bay Area to the paper. My client asked me to paint a piece for her wedding anniversary from the picture where she and her husband had a wonderful time playing in the city and resting at the beach by Golden Gate Bridge. I fell in love with the idea immediately as it was a great romance there. Although the original photo was a little bit on a grey scale, therefore I felt it would be great to add a few shades of the blue, fading pink and yellow to the sky and a little burned sienna to the hills. When I’ve researched the picture before painting, I’ve noticed how so Red Golden Gate Bridge is not any red when you look at it from the distance. Besides, it is almost grayish pink at the far end. That what Miss Perspective does to the colors.

There were a few people fishing on the wave-breakers. I eliminated them giving my couple some privacy. Instead, I’ve placed two tiny egrets on the rocks (the sub name of the painting is Two Love Birds)… A few English Daisies on the front added a little romantic mood (there was a dead grass on the picture that did not feel right for the idea of the anniversary gift).

My client loved the painting, but she didn’t want to frame it. She loved it on a wall unframed. I’ve got a cradle board and mounted painting on it; and I’ve painted the sides with white acrylic to give a completed look. Using Watercolor Fixative will protect the painting from the moisture and I hope the painting will last to the family to at least their 75 wedding anniversary and beyond  J
