Bestselling Watercolors. Analytical Research

Irina Sztukowski art
Continuing my research of the bestselling watercolor paintings, I want to focus this time on what was selling in May and June of this year. Surprising enough more than 70 percent of the painting that were sold from my website www.artirina.com were all about food! Fruits, berries, vegetables were the Kings and the Queens of the sales on my little watercolor Farmers Market those months. The quartet of the bestselling watercolor illustrations above is quite bright and informative. It pretty much has all what a good housewife might want to have on her kitchen walls to inspire the members of the family to eat right :).

On another hand, the single apples and pears group was liked by my Art Collector from Chandler, Arizona probably for its simplicity:

artist Irina Sztukowski
This painting quartet contains some of my bestsellers that were part of the Marmalade Labels project and Jam Labels project. The Red Apple painting was even featured once in People Magazine one day! No wonder the art collectors choice was given  to this watercolor bestselling combination.

A couple more edible bestselling paintings that I want to include here were as sweet as the first two above, yet they do have different feeling to them as the fruit and vegetables are so diverse here.  Even now these little bestsellers water my mouth just looking at them:

Farmers Market painting
One Art Collector didn’t want to buy whole bunch of Farmers Market watercolor produce and stopped his choice at just one Eggplant. but it does look so great on the plain white canvas! Thank you so much to a dear customer from Idaho Falls, ID !!

But not only clear white background for the bestselling watercolor illustrations was popular that period. One of my best selling classical still life paintings, Onion Ginger And Lemon, went to the state of Idaho to an absolutely different customer the same month:

bestseller watercolor
There were just a few sales with flowers from my Floral Gallery that month. The rest of the bestsellers were quite romantic watercolor landscape paintings
I guess the beginning of the Summer brought that kind of feeling and customers decided to get more romantic 🙂

Besides one of my absolutely favorite landscapes with Italian small town of Positano (thanks to the Art Collector from Flamingham, Massachusetts for adding bestselling points to this popular watercolor) :

…the art collectors from Georgia and Colorado decided to purchase some beautiful landscapes to add to their home decor.
The spontaneous impresionistic bestseller with Carmel By The Sea watercolor paining:
Irina Sztukowski bestseller artwork
And romantic bestselling watercolor (from different websites of mine) with the Bridge and Bicycle at the Marina:
by Irina Sztukowski
The last but not least bestseller in my analytical research of the monthly sales is one of my most favorite and romantic ones that has Golden Gate Bridge on the background.
I called this bestselling watercolor Two Love Birds.
The art collector from Nesconset, state of New York chose classical black frame and white mat to garnish it:

Bestselling Art…. Monthly Analysis

abstract, art that sells, bestseller, bestsellers, bestselling, girl and ocean, sold art, Sztukowski, Watercolor, what sells
bestseller by Irina Sztukowski
As I promised to my art followers, I continue to analyse the art sales and place a few bestsellers of the month on my blog. January and February sales report was placed a week ago, and if you are interested it can be found here ( Art That Sells post)

Now it is time to talk about bestsellers of the month for March and April. To my surprise there were plenty of abstract paintings sold those months. The one above, Dancing Watercolor, was the bestselling abstract on my RedBubble website.

My main website www.artirina.com  was selling abstract art like crazy as well.
Here are just a few of them:
purple bestseller painting Irina Sztukowski
blue painting decor bestseller
I am so happy that Art Collectors appreciate the abstract art for decorating their houses. I was also pleased that the abstract bestselling watercolor found a good home in the form of pillows.

Here is one of the bestsellers:

Yet the portraits were not left behind. When I researched the bestselling art of those months, I realized, that quite a few portraits were purchased by art collectors.

Here are is one, for example, from the RedBubble Gallery:

bestselling watercolor
And needless to say, I was not surprised at all that the same website sold again The Girl And The Ocean famous watercolor bestseller of mine 🙂

Another portrait in the seascape setting was sold by my ImageKind Gallery:

And another, this time silly portrait of Chameleon was purchased by the Art Collector from Williston, North Dakota. This cute curious animal became such a bestseller in the last few years:

bestselling art

So, concluding that most of the sales were abstract and portraits bestsellers, I also want to add that Italian theme, e.g. Italian landscapes and even digital artworks were also quite popular those months.
For example, Siena Italy painting hits the sales records again:

As well as my bestselling photograph of Venice which I touched with the digital brush, was looking so nice in the new frame selected by the Art Collector from Orlando, Florida:

Art That Sells. Bestsellers Of The Month

art that sells, bestsellers, bestselling, floral, Irina, landscape, sold art, Still Life, Sztukowski, what sells
art that sells bestseller of the month
My followers often ask me which paintings ( e.g what format or what themes) are selling the best. They are also interested if I have mostly sold art locally or internationally.

To explain all of that I decided to share just a few sales of the first months of this year. I will try to analyse what art is preferred by the local public; and, what art mostly goes to international art collectors. Though, it is quite random. For example, the Iris painting above was sold quite a bit, and geography of the sales is from Florida to California in the US, to Abu Dabi (Arab Emirats) the art collector who bought this artwork of Iris on the stretched canvas this February for example.

Another International Art Collector purchased this bestselling artwork of Inspiration Point, Orinda CA in January of this year:

I am glad that our local beauty is now exposed in the house of Auckland city in New Zealand!

Although, the local Art Collectors of mine, specifically from California ( towns: West Hills, Sunnyvalle, and Dana Point) made me very happy purchasing the following bestselling watercolors:

bestselling artwork
Siena, Italy watercolor painting

art that sells
Poppy Field – Elongated Format Painting

art that sells
Red Poppy Field – decorative landscape painting.

Most of my customers were purchasing landscape paintings from my Landscape Gallery. However, some still life bestselling paintings were not left behind.
For example my famous Blueberry artwork that became last year bestseller Number One in many departments such Licensing Art, Art Collections, Jam Labels illustrations and more, found its home this time in Nashville, TN:
art that sells bestseller watercolor
And another bestselling still life of mine, Two Pears, went to a new home in Goodyear, AZ:
art that sells
The Art Collector purchased this artwork on the stretched canvas. And, coincidentally, the original was also painted on watercolor canvas as well. I am glad the realistic approach and the Old Masters style is appreciated by my customers.

I am also so happy that the floral compositions became bestselling artworks in those two months.
For example a simple bouquet of Ranunculus flowers was sold to the customer from Renton, state of Washington:
bestselling art that sells
Three Roses Bouquet watercolor was appreciated by the Art Collector from Lubbock, Texas and became bestseller in January:
art that sells bestseller of the month

And another floral painting bestseller, one of my favorite by the way, the Rose Painting, was sold to the Art Collector from West Palm Beach, Florida:

art that sells
But because I sell art not only from my website www.artirina.com but through some other venues, such for example ImageKind or RedBubble; sometimes I don’t even know what bestselling art went to what customer. But I am still happy that artworks of mine find a good home. At least I know what art sells there the best.
RedBubble for example established a super new bestseller, the Ruby Slippers. Just in the last few months it was sold more than several dozens of times:

art that sells bestselling painting

And ImageKind really started selling lots of bicycles. These few are my favorite bestsellers for example:

bestselling art ImageKind artwork that sells
art that sells bestselling watercolor
So speaking of the art that sells I guess the answer is that any artwork can become bestselling when the artist works hard and puts it out to the world. The World will appreciate it, and the art collectors will find you.  I am certainly grateful that my customers do 🙂

Sequoia Forest And Mountains

art that sells, bestseller, bestsellers, California, forest, Giant Trees, impressionism, landscape, national park, realism, Sequoia, Watercolor
Sequoia National Park painting
The first painting of the New Year is the Winter forest of Sequoia National Park. I love visiting this place, mostly in the Spring and Summer. And, I got lucky to see it once in the coldest season of the year. The snow was up to 15 feet. I could barely recognize the park I was familiar with. It was not too terribly cold, but the massive amount of white and blue was overwhelming.

The National Park Sequoia is impressive in any season.

In my impressionistic painting above the giant trees stand still in their monumental beauty, competing with the grandiose stillness of the snowy mountains in the background.

And here are a few other paintings that I created celebrating different seasons of the Sequoia National Park. These two artworks have a little twist. Each of them, besides the beautiful scenery have a secret to share: somebody is hiding in the bushes or between the trees.
Try to find them.. 🙂

When busy Holiday times are coming, sometimes we forget to breath in and breath out.
I wanted to paint this Peaceful Sunset Landscape painting with the calm waters and the pier and invite the viewers to cherish the moment of the quiet stillness of the Nature.

Interior Decoration With Designers Prints – Poppies and Sunflowers

acrylic, art that sells, collage, decor, design, Designers Prints, interior, Irina, modern, poppies, sunflowers, Sztukowski, Vincent van Gogh, Watercolor
I was excited to learn that the company I was offering the prints of my art before; recently, this company entered an additional business. Now, my art is presented at DesignersPrints.com website, which is available for designers companies to purchase.

These days, I have chance to look at my art with the new point of view.Yes, it is known that the main purpose of visual art is to decorate: living room, kitchen, bedroom or kids room. But a whole new segment I have not considered before. All of a sudden, DesignerPrints opened my horizons to some new venues: hotels, business offices, hospitals, educational facilities; apparently  they are all looking for a good art to put up on their walls.

And I am glad I should not worry about signing the contracts with all that businesses while flying from state to state with my art portfolio. The company is working for me. Yey! My important responsibility though stays the same: It is – to create art; and, I am doing it, aren’t I ?

:0)

But as a person with the wild imagination, I really wanted to fantasize how would my art pieces look on a wall, let’s say, a suite of a hotel, or a waiting room at the dentist office, or even at VA hospital..

I created imaginary wall and decorated it, just for fun.

Here is, for example, my new (quite decorative as I think) painting of Poppies touched by a gentle breeze.

Hm, how would this piece look on a wall?
Here you go!

Just like a garden, or at least window to the garden….

And here is one experimental art piece that I’ve recently created with thick acrylic paint on a wooden board (a Sunflowers painting that I jokingly called Vincent Van Gogh Would Cry).

How would this painting, enhanced with multiple designs, look on a wall?
Here you go!!

Would Vincent cry now? 😉

Pears Trio

watercolor pears
Oh Pears, Pears! Each time I paint them I think about a figure painting. They are just like humans: not two pears are alike, are they?

These three ladies I painted on special Watercolor Canvas made by Fredrix. I loved to experiment. If to look closely, there is texture of the canvas is seen.

The pears were from Farmers Market. They perfectly showing their imperfection: pretty as Nature intended.
The shelf that they are sitting on is made of Myrtle Wood. My husband and I picked the wood from the shop in Oregon; and, then he made the lovely shelf that I cherish.
Myrtle wood has quite interesting texture and it is one of the rare woods in the world.

Per www.myrtlewood.com
No other hardwood excels Oregon Myrtlewood in
beauty of grain and variety of coloring. Golden tans and muted reds, yellow
greens and soft grays, ash blonds and seal browns, often patterned with velvet
black for striking designs within the wood. Here is nature’s artistry
unsurpassed!
 (read more here)

I had fun not only painting those pears, but also got lost in the grain of the wood. At some point, while painting it, I was thinking I painted marble shelf, not a wooden one.

Now, back to the pears.
Here are just a few pears for the road

Painting California Poppies

orange painting
California Poppies (scientific name Eschscholzia Californica) sometimes are called a Cup of Gold. They are official California state flowers.

I found this small golden field when going one day to Blake Garden in Berkeley Hills for a plain-air session. I was so occupied painting another field of Red Poppies that I only had a few minutes to run around the park and take some photos. In contrary to the poppies that I painted that day (see painting below), these orange cuties were volunteers. They just spread around the park glowing and bringing light and cheer.

(previous post is here, and the prints are available here)
As I recall, it was a little meadow with the Red and Pink poppies hiding in the forest like garden.

The red ones were planted by people.

The orange ones were probably brought by birds and wind.

They decided to locate themselves wherever was comfortable: on a pathway that brought the artists to a marvelous view of the San Francisco Bay
I painted an artist there who came to paint California Poppies; so, that there is more to the story. When the viewer comes to the painting, the fist thing he/she sees are the poppies: bright, orange, big. Yet with more careful observation, you can notice that somebody else is there admiring the orange flowers at the Bay.

In the last couple of years I painted quite a few of those orange flowers. But the painting above is probably the largest one
(original painting California Poppies is 23″x17″ on Strathmore 140 lb Watercolor paper)

Glass Rocks Roll To Sacramento

Elk Grove Art Gallery
One of my favorite paintings the Rose with the Glass Rocks was accepted into a juried Art Show  at Elk Grove Art Center in Sacramento area.

The rose in this painting was a fresh cut from my garden. The morning dew was already gone, but I wanted to play with drop-like texture that day. I placed the rose on the window and dropped a few glass rocks next to it. Each rock reflected the world: the sky, the tree branches outside, one even showed the rose view distorted through the glass:

I am so glad that my Rose with the Glass Rocks will be on display at such famous Art Center in the Capital of California :0)

Fort Point California San Francisco
Last Saturday plain-air paint day started with a chilly breeze at Fort Point. But due to a cold weather there were not a spec of fog or mist in San Francisco; and, the Golden Gate Bridge was glowing in its full glory.

Our CWA artists group was enjoying painting in such touristic area.

Everyone created their masterpiece in a matter of hours:
Golden Gate Bridge paintings
Some artists were painting outside hiding behind Fort Point‘s old brick walls. My sister and I painted inside the car with open windows. Why not; I’ve learned this trick from reading biography of Georgia O’Keeffe who sometimes painted in her car going plein-air in the desert.
