Plain Air – San Francisco – Park Presidio

Bay, Bay Area, impressionistic painting in watercolor, Presidio, realism in watercolor, San Francisco, San Francisco watercolor, Watercolor
realism in watercolorLast weekend I have participated in annual Plain Air event with California Watercolor Association ( . I have totally forgotten what it is when you stand in open area with the wind blowing and direct sun; trying to protect your paper and easel from flipping over. But I managed it. Four hours went by like one moment. They say that if you get lost in time when you do something it is real thing; the thing that you are supposed to do in this life time. Last weekend I’ve experienced it again 🙂

  1. Dear Irina,
Lovely and beautiful work, particularly, how cute the little house is in green and light!! Thank you for sharing the wise say. Interesting, in Japanese, “in dream” means similar positive meaning. I translate it into “being absorbed in”…sure, painting!
    Cheers, Sadami

  2. Thank you Sadami. I am a true believer that we need to follow our dreams. When I was a kid I knew I will be an artist; during the adult years I tried to forget but it still kept coming back. I am happy I can paint; and I am so happy I have opportunity to share 🙂
    Thanks again.

  3. Hi Linda,
It is funny you mentioned the palm. We were timed that day and the last thing I painted was that palm. It was so far away that I completely forgot about it. So, 5 min left, we need to get back to the meeting and I am painting this palm like crazy. Funny moment 🙂
    Thank you for your comment.

  4. Yes Cristina, I am glad I pushed myself to get that heavy easel and all supplies together, drive all the way from Martinez to San Francisco ( around an hour) and stand in the wind. But I am so happy I did. The day was lovely, the people who participated in this event was wonderful. What a life!! 🙂
    Thank you,
